What to avoid by pilgrims in Ihram state?
In order to accomplish the Hajj pilgrimage, Muslims are necessitated to undergo the Ihram state. They not only wear the white-coloured outfit but the Ihram is an oath to follow the virtuous path in the lifetime. However, accomplishing and coming out of the Ihram state requires a lot of effort. There are several rules and restrictions for which the pilgrims are required to abide by. Here are some major things which Muslims must avoid during the Hajj:
- Use of soaps and scented perfumes – the utilization of soaps and scented perfumes in the state of Ihram is prohibited. Muhrim must neither apply the same over their body nor should they put it on the Ihram. This is further mentioned in Hadith that perfume is not applicable during the Hajj even for the person who dies in the Ihram state.
- Sexual intercourse – Muslims men and women in the state of Ihram are strictly prohibited to undergo intimate and sexual intercourse. However, if they perform the same act, they are required to pay the penalty by sacrificing a sheep or a camel.
- Shaving heads for men – Muslim pilgrims cannot shave their heads unless they come out of Ihram state and slaughter the animal in the name of Allah و جل عز. The same is mentioned in the Quran verses [2:196]
- Tawaf for menstruating women – Muslim women that experience their menstrual period during Hajj are not permitted to take the seven circuits often termed as Tawaf around the Kaabah instead they can opt to listen Quran online rather than reading or touching the same. Moreover, these women also can’s offer prayers to Allah و جل عز or read five times namaaz.
Some scholars also believe that women cannot bath, scratch their heads, or cover their face during Hajj, the same doesn’t belong to proven records.
