Common restrictions to practice Hajj for women

Hajj is an obligatory act and is necessary for the entire Muslim in this world to perform the same at least once in the entire life. Irrespective of the age, gender, and residential area of the Muslims, they are necessitated to go for Hajj. Most of the women believe that Hajj is only applicable to men Muslims but this perception is completely wrong as every Muslims once he/she is financially and physically able to perform Hajj should go for it.

There are various restrictions associated with Hajj pilgrimage. For instance, the pilgrims should not commit a shirk or a sinful act while the journey and practice Hajj as per described by Allah’s Rasul Allah ﷺ. However, the major rule applicable to the woman pilgrim states that unless she could avail a Mehram and get him ready for Mecca, Saudi Arabia, her Hajj or umrah won’t be considered as valid or acceptable. A Mahram of women is a person that is not entitled to marry her at any cause because of the blood relations between them. It can be her brother, father, grandfather, and etc.

Unlike the men pilgrims, the Ihram for women can be of any colour following the condition that their attire should not be either tight or display any of their body parts. However, Rasul Allah ﷺ   often said that all men and women pilgrims are equal for Allah and hence, the women should not cover their faces with the scarf or any other wear. Likewise, they must avoid wearing gloves during the entire Hajj journey. Once the women are entered in the state of Ihram then she must not opt for any physical relationship with her husband or must not wear perfume on her garments. Besides this, she must never cut her hair or nails.
