0The incident of elephants
On hearing that Abdul Muttalib desired to get back the 200 camels that were taken from him, Abrahah challenged Abdul Muttalib that he is going to ruin the house of Allah and no one can stop him from this act. Furthermore, he returned the camels to their owner i.e. Abdul Muttalib and ordered him to go back to his land. Abdul Muttalib went to Mecca and informed the Quraysh about the dirty intention of Abrahah to destroy Kaaba. He also suggested Quraysh and his tribes to leave Mecca and stay on the mountaintop as the companion of Abrahah would treat them ruthlessly. Though the tribes of Quraysh do not possess enough strength to announce a battle against the troops of Abrahah, the same worshipped Allah and prayed him to safeguard Kaaba.
On the other hand, Abrahah prepared his army and a total of 13 elephants among which ‘Mahmud’ (the largest elephant of the group) was leading the march. The intention of Abrahah was to ruin the house of Allah and then return back to Yemen. However, the circumstances did not favour Abrahah as when the elephants were commanded to move in the direction of Kaaba they did not move from their palace. Even after continuously beating them and treating them harshly, the elephants did not move.
At the same time, when Abrahah gave them a command to move in the direction of Yemen, all of them stood up and started marching towards Yemen. Similarly, whenever the elephants were commanded to move in Syria and other directions they instantly move up and proceeded but never move towards Mecca. Allah then sent a few birds each carrying stones towards Abrahah. Though no one was hit, Abrahah was trapped by them and after a short period of time, he died. This incident proved that no one in this entire world has the power to knock down Kaaba.
