When is the Day of Arafah in Hajj for Muslims?

The Day of Arafah commonly known as the day of acceptance and acceptance of supplications is the 9th day of Zul Hijja as per the Islamic calendar. It is considered as the second major day of Hajj pilgrimage after which the essential day of Dhabiha arrives i.e., Eid al-Adha. These days are declared as an official holiday for Muslims throughout the world. Mount Arafah is sited at a height of 70 meters and is located in the southeast part of Mecca. The Mount of Arafah is often termed as Mount of Mercy as the pilgrims visit the palace to commemorate the last sermon of Prophet Mohammed and seek the merciful blessings of Allah. This day help the pilgrims to ask for forgiveness from Lord and get rid of the entire sins they did in their past life.

According to the Islamic tradition and historical records, Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) gave a farewell sermon to thousands of people in this day. It is often believed that it was probably the last Hajj of his life. Pilgrims arrive at this Pahar at the noon of Dhul Hijja and stand there till the sunset. This process is also known as Wuquf where the pilgrims listen to the sermons given by the famous scholars. The pilgrims are further required to practice the Zuhr and Asar prayer in the Namrah Mosque. However, if the Muslims do not succeed to spend the entire noon in the Mount of Arafah then their prayer would not be considered as valid.

Besides the repentance, blessings, and prayers, pilgrims are also necessitated to fast the entire day till the sunset. As it is the strong faith of Muslims that fasting on the day of Ashura and the Day of Arafah frees the Muslims from Fire in the Day of Judgment.
