The picture on the left shows Masjid Aisha, also known as Masjid at-Tan’eem marks the place where Ummul-Mu’mineen Aisha (r.a.) went to enter into Ihram for Umrah.
Masjid Aisha formerly known as Masjid Taneem is located 5 miles away to the south of Makkah, in Al-Hil area, called Taneem. This masjid is the nearest miqat for the people living in Makkah or around and its name is associated with Hazrat Aisha (R.A), as she was the first person who used this mosque as miqat.
There are many ahadith about this Masjid and Aisha رضي الله عنه relation to its name.
In Sahih Al-Bukhari, it is narrated by Aisha رضي الله عنه, that we set out with Allah's Messenger (PBUH) in the year of his Last Hajj and we mended (the Ihram) for Umrah. Then the Prophet () said, "Whoever has a Hadi with him should assume Ihram for both Haj and Umra, and should not finish it till he performs both of them (Hajj and Umra)." When we reached Makkah, I had my menses. When we had performed our Hajj, the Prophet (ﷺ) sent me with Abdur-Rahman to Tan`im and I performed the Umra. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is in lieu of your missed Umra." Those who had assumed Ihram for Umrah performed Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa) and then finished their Ihram, and then they performed another Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa) after returning from Mina. And those who had assumed lhram for Hajj and Umrah to get her (Hajj-Qiran) performed only with one Tawaf (between Safa and Marwa). Sahih al-Bukhari 1638
In Sahih Al-Muslim, it is narrated by Aisha رضي الله عنه, that she put on Ihram for Umra and arrived Makkah) but did not circumambulate the House as she had entered the period of menses, and then put on Ihram for Hajj and performed all the rituals concerning it (except circumambulating the House). The Apostle of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said to her on the day of Tawaaf (when pilgrims come to Mina): Your circumambulation would suffice both Hajj and Umra. She, however, felt reluctant. Thereupon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم sent her with 'Abd al-Rahman to Tan'im and she performed Umra (with separate rituals) after Hajj. Sahih Muslim 1211
This masjid is the nearest miqat for the residents of Makkah, either permanent or temporary; the person who comes for haj or umra, and wish to perform more than one umrah, this masjid is the easiest miqat.
Sunnah way of umrah is to leave sanctuary (haram) limits and then again enter with ihram, because having ihram is not allowed in sanctuary boundary, and going back to origin city and then come back is a tedious task.
One scholar mentioned in his book, "The boundary for ‘Umrah for one who is in Makkah is the area outside the sanctuary, and it is better to do the ihram from Ji’irranah or at-Tan’eem"
